SEO – Technical & Content
SEO – Technical & Content
Technical SEO
After building hundreds of websites across industries and continents, these are the 3 main things I insist on implementing for every website.
Step 1: Analytics
There are many tools that can help you do an in-depth technical analysis of your website and content. Such as:
- Google Pagespeed insight (Lighthouse)
- Google Analytics
- Google Search Console
- Google Looker Studio
Together these can give valuable insights into how your website performs and what and where improvements need to be made.
Step 2: Website
Optimizing websites with technical SEO practically means improving load times, having clean code & great content. Making it easy read for people, AI and Google:
- Clean modern code
- Optimize all media
- Clear taxonomy
These are just some of the many things I do to help businesses increase their online reach.
Step 3: Technology
To get the most reliable webservice you will have to pay extra attention to the following technologies:
- Cloudflare CDN
- Modern server hosting
- Modern domain hosting
Beyond just better website uptime, great technologies also protect you from DDOS attacks. It helps you reboot your website faster after it goes down and it improves your ranking on Google.
Content SEO
After all the technical SEO is set up, this is generally what I do to increase Organic Search traffic year after year.
Step 1: Analyse
Before creating content, the first step is research. Who is your audience, who are your competitors and what do you already have on your website.
- Audience
- Competitors
- Self
Doing an analysis of your own and your competitors websites, seeing how they rank and why, and analyzing what your customer base is looking for and where will greatly help finding the direction you need to go when creating new content.
Step 2: Create
Content SEO practically means creating content about your product and services, having a keen eye for structure and clarity. Making it easy to read and find for people, AI and Google:
- Clean structured content
- On brand imagery
- On topic landing pages
- Consistent updates
- Clear navigation
These are just some of the many things to look out for when creating content to increase the online reach of your website(s).
Step 3: Share
For your website to be found and for your content to garner all of its potential attention, you need to consider off-site content SEO. This means:
- Sharing your content on Social Media
- Submitting your site to Google & Bing
- Guest blogs on appropriate sites
Because nobody will be able to discover your website if nobody has linked to it. This is where knowing who your audience is and where they can be found matters most.
Achievements
After implementing both technical and content SEO on various websites, I’ve seen sites achieve the following growth:
%
Increased Speed
According to Amazon, for every percentage of loading speed you can either gain or lose the same percentage of sales. Google also heavily emphasizes the importance of loading speed.
%
Increased Reach
Organic search is free traffic, all you need is a good running website and regular content updates. Trust is also higher when a site is reached organically versus through an ad.
